18 Jan Macau Taipa Village Treasure Hunt
18 January 2017. Mention Macau and you are likely to think of big name casinos. But there is more to Macau than money and the iDiscover Macau App&Map is the perfect companion to explore and discover the city’s unique Sino-Portuguese heritage that is still so visible in the quaint and charming old neighbourhoods.
Hot on the heels of a successful HK launch, our app and map were launched in the weekend of 21-22 January 2017, with the iDiscover Macau Taipa Village Treasure Hunt, co-organised with our partner Taipa Village Destination Limited. Using the App&Map, this 1 hour treasure hunt, started at Carmo Fair, guided participants to a series of checkpoints to eat, drink and explore this charming village. Answer the checkpoint questions correctly and collect coins to be in the running for a host of prizes including overnight accommodation at the Inn Hotel Macau, and local delights from Casa de Tapas Macau 塔巴斯西班牙小館, and Sei Kee Café.
iDiscover Macau is a socially responsible travel app and map with curated neighbourhood walks in Taipa and the St Lazarus Quarter created by fourth year heritage management students from Institute for Tourism Studies Macau (IFT), the Taipa Village Association and the iDiscover team from Hong Kong.
The savvy app comes with a free map, designed by Macanese artists in their own personal style, representing a flavour of the neighbourhoods. The maps are printed locally and sustainably and available from places that share the iDiscover passion for the authenticity of the neighbourhood. The Taipa map was designed by local artist Kay Tung, whose imagination knows no boundaries. A graduate from Macao Polytechnic Institute, he’s making a name for himself in illustrative branding in Macau, Hong Kong and China. Tun Ho, designed the St Lazarus Quarter map; an artist who loves paper and print and works at the crossroads of packaging, branding and illustration.
