iSurprise No. 13 Parrawa Street

Nicely renovated property in a quiet cul-de-sac

Some ten years back, the owners restored the veranda to its original curved shape.

The house

In the Dutch Period, Parawa Street was occupied by 'Parawo', people originally from Kerala in South India. Archaeological surveys suggest there might have been a small house here before the current home was built. The arched veranda in front of this house is a common feature in Galle Fort and a beautiful example of the colonial period's influence. With the assistance of the Galle Heritage Foundation, the owners restored the veranda to its original curved shape some ten years back.
