A good market
What started in 2012 with a pop-up of 30 stalls where local farmers could sell their produce, became a regular Saturday market at the racecourse and in 2014 a permanent outlet opened here at the old storerooms of Lakpahana opposite the racecourse. Good Market sells organic and naturally sourced products including food products, skin products and other herbal remedies. They also operate the Good Market Platform selling ethical and all-natural Sri Lankan products to a global market.
People & Planet
Achala Samaradiwakara was inspired by farmer’s markets in the UK and Australia. Together with her business partner Amanda she works with suppliers of sustainable products from all over the country and helps them with packaging, marketing and market access.
There are so many farmers with wonderful produce and craftsman with great love and skill, but they’re not always good in marketing and selling their products. That’s where we come in
Our favourites
Some of the local favourites are the Gotukola pesto, cinnamon and coconut spread. Also, be sure to test out some of the turmeric and gram facemasks. There’s also a lovely café on site with fresh juices, smoothies and healthy wraps.
