A Mini Mill within The Mills

People might not realize it, but this is possibly the most exciting circular innovation in Hong Kong!

Fashion upcycled

Garment-to-Garment (G2G) Recycle System is a groundbreaking innovation from HKRITA which creates completely new, stylish clothing from post-consumer garments. This is how it works: a compact, automatic mini-scale production line sanitises the collected garment, opening up the fabric, cleaning, carding, drawing, then spinning, doubling & twisting to knitting a completely new item of clothing.

Fits in a box

The whole system operates within a 40-foot container, making it easy to install and adapt to various spaces. With its anti-vibration, noise- and dust-controlled design, it ensures minimal disruption to surrounding businesses and qualifies for operation in community spaces like shopping malls. The entire process is waterless, showing a commitment to preserving resources and reducing environmental impact.

It encourages consumers to rethink the intrinsic value of their clothes and realise how they personally can play an important role in achieving sustainability in garment production.
— Katherine Chan, HKRITA
