iSee Hledan Station

Busy station in bustling student neighbourhood

Dip in the tracks

Hledan Station is the second busiest station on the Circular Line, it is also one of the oldest. Across the railway tracks is an old bridge. When more modern (and higher) diesel trains started riding on this line, rather than raise he bridge, the engineers decided to lower the tracks under the bridge instead. It makes for a bumpy ride.

What’s in a name?

Hledan means ‘cart row’ in Burmese language, In the old days, this was the place where oxcarts gathered to bring produce to the market.
