The street just behind the popular Dutch hospital has become the destination of choice for the after-office crowd. Live music and cheap beer cater to a merry mix of locals and tourists. Come here for the Street Food Festival, every last weekend of the month featuring more than 25 stalls serving a variety of street food, or the monthly Art & Jazz on the street happenings with local artists, and musicians in this historic street.

We like Re.Pub.Lk at no 57. What used to be a rowdy bar where port workers would come for a shot of arrack, is now an elegant club in a historic mansion. (57 Hospital Street) and Baille Street Merchants, a new speakeasy bar, reviving the roaring 1920s with crafted cocktails around the corner on Mudalige Mawatha Rd.
