Street artists and curio sellers

A bustling corner
The flyover marks the boundary between Glodok and Kota Tua, Jakarta’s old town, where the shophouses of Chinatown make place for the stately boulevards of old Batavia. The underpass is a popular spot for street artists and curio sellers to do business.
A true artist
Our favourite painter here is Pak Wijan, an art school graduate from Yogyakarta who has been painting for over ten years. Even though he has made portraits of Jakarta's rich and famous, he's happy to immortalise you in a drawing as well! Expect to pay around IDR 100,000 for a black and white portrait.
Visualise your dream
Do you have a memorable dream, a bad nightmare, a beautiful fantasy or an unexpected romantic daydream? Pak Wijan has earned a reputation for visualising dreams. These artworks are a bit more time-consuming than ordinary portraits; expect three to five days for your 'dreamwork' to be finished, depending on the complexity of the story you tell him.
