Designed By Friedric Silaban
Gedung BNI is one of the biggest structures in Kota Tua Jakarta. It was designed by Friedrich Silaban, Indonesian architect who was best known for his modern post independence building. The first Indonesian President, Soekarno had a good professional relationship and friendship with him that Silaban was trusted to involve in many of early independence projects in Jakarta.
Brise-soleil for Tropical Climate
The interesting element of the building that it is enveloped with brise-soleil or sunscreen to filter the density of the sunlight. It is a great approach for buildings in tropical climate to reduce the heat inside the building while still benefitting parts of the sunlight.
Bank and its Corporate University
Not only used as branch office for Bank Nasional Indonesia, Gedoeng BNI also used as corporate university to train young bankers and employees. It also has a huge park perfect for picnic, but you need to ask for permission to enter.
