iSee Gingerbread House

It was built around 1908 by the one of Lampang richest teak merchants, the Burmese Moung Ngwe Zin. This is where he lived, kept his merchandise and also held office. The building is a unique mix of east meets west architectural styles. The solid skeleton and stained glass windows were constructed using the latest European technologies, but the intricate woodwork details on the gable and the roof, were inspired by Burmese architecture.No cost was spared and Mount Ngwe Zin’s mansion has some stunning details like an arch above the window that resembles the shining sun and a top floor ceiling made from embossed tin like in Burmese temples!A recent renovation has brought back the building to its former glory building keeping all original details intact. For that they won an award from the Association of Siamese Architects under the Royal Patronage of His Majesty the King (ASA).

Lots of secret features in this building. A shutter in the back of the shop leads to the vast basement and hidden in a cabinet on the 2nd floor is a ladder to the top floor.
