iShop Café Kabuhayan @ Quinta Market

Quinta Market used to be the city’s top market catering to the wealthy Quiapo residents. Named after the colourful riverside mansions that were dotted around the area in the 1850s when the market was built. It’s central location beside the Pasig River made it one of the busiest public markets in the city. For so many years this has been the place to go for fresh seafood straight off the boats, vegetables from the fertile mountain districts and a great place to stock up on toys and all sorts of gifts. Even after 160 years, Quinta Market continues to be a bustling hub, with the market spilling out onto the nearby streets. The current market building is a new one, built in 2015 but the trading spirit is still like in the old days.

Tucked away at the left side of the market is the small Quiapo Coffee Stall. The owner, Gerry, is 4th generation operating the stall which dates back to the 1940s. Pick your favourite beans from glass containers, fresh for around PHP 50 per kilogram or ask Gerry to grind the beans to your preferred fineness for free.
