Oldest surviving fire station
‘Manila’s best fire station, the most modern in design and arrangement for the purposes intended, and a very beautiful structure.’ said the municipal officer at the opening ceremony of the new fire station in 1904. ‘A handsome, permanent building, housing an engine company, hook-and-ladder company, and a chemical company, giving protection in a district in which there are many valuable buildings.’
New sports court
For a century old building, surprisingly little has changed. The original hose rack, locker rooms, weight boxes and swinging screen doors are still like in the old days. The only novelty added was the handball court, that was in 1930…
Oldest fire engine
The engine house still has an original century-old fire truck. One of the last remaining examples of what was then cutting-edge firefighting technology.
