Spirit of Sanur
This one of Sanur’s finest and oldest temples and it truly embodies the Sanur spirit. The first thing the early Javanese immigrants did when they arrived at the Sanur shores was to build a temple to protect the village from invaders and demons from the sea.
Sprits of the ocean
Not all water is good in Balinese astrology. Sanur beach looks out to Nusa Penida, the home of Jero Gede Mecaling, the most evil seagod in Balinese cosmology. This is where locals come to pray and offer to keep him calm and happy.
