As unlikely as it seems, Dog 99 is actually the one and only specialty coffee shop in Hong Kong that opens 24/7. “We know so well, as coffee lovers, how hard it feels when all you crave for at midnight is a nice cup of coffee but there is nothing you can find on the street”, shop owner Ah-dan says genuinely. Having decided to fully extend their opening hours, they are now here to serve coffee cravers at any time. “Many of our night owl customers are designers, writers or artists, who simply need a sip of coffee to straighten up their minds or get new inspiration. That’s what we love “ Ah-dan explains.
Spirit of the place
Ah-dan and his business partners first thought about opening their shop in Central or Sheung Wan. But in the end, it was the neighbourhood spirit that brought them to Sham Shui Po. “What we value is way beyond money or coffee quality. This is the place where people actually recognise one another, talk to one another. This is exactly what we love about Sham Shui Po.”
