iEat Raipur Bhajiya House

Best place to try the famous fried veggie snack, not-to-be-missed.

Like my dad and my grandfather, I believe in simplicity, quality and consistency. One of our most loyal clients is a 102-year old lady who comes here every day
— Parth Patel

Popular snack house

Raipur Bhajiya House is a great place to sample another one of Ahmedabad’s culinary delights: bhajiya, is a fried snack (fritter) made of lentil batter with vegetable stuffing. A perennial local favourite, the snacks are prepared fresh daily. There don’t even have a refrigerator here, just like in the old days. Parth Patel, the 24-year-old proud owner, took over the business from his father: “Like my dad and my grandfather, I believe in simplicity, quality and consistency. One of our most loyal clients is a 102-year old lady who comes here every day.”

Memory lane

Parth takes us on a little trip down memory lane: “In my grandfather’s time, there were big stone gateways with heavy wooden doors. He started the bhajiya business on a doorstep”. Now the shop is run by two Patel brothers. They have devised a very simple and harmonious management strategy. Each brother manages the shop for a period of 6 months and the next remaining months is managed by the other brother.
