Paper inspired art as a testimony to the past

Paper recycling facility

Locals know the Kwun Tong promenade as the place where the city’s waste paper - 3,000 tons daily! - was collected and shipped to mainland China for recycling. Now it’s one of Hong Kong’s best seaside promenades. The ‘twisted paper’ art installations are the only reminder of its history as a cargo handling area.

Under the fly-over

The leafy waterfront promenade is popular for picknicks, fishing, running and strolling. Especially at night when the towers light up along the boardwalk to create a surreal atmosphere.

This promenade was once the city’s main waste paper hub, handling up to 70% of the city’s total export volume
