A humble ferry ride
Kwun Tong Ferry Pier is a quiet spot in a bustling neighbourhood. Distant from the crowd, a place where locals enjoy some chit-chat by the seaside or throw out a fishing rod. Also, the ferry service to North Point is like a well-kept secret. One of the most enjoyable rides in the city and a cheap and easy way to travel across the harbour, and as Mr Wong says: “You don’t walk up and down like in MTR stations.”
Take a ferry
The ferries to North Point run every 30 mins. In the past, the Kwun Tong Ferry Pier also provided regular services to Central, Sai Wan Ho, Chai Wan and even Po Toi Island. Today, ferries to North Point also stop by Kai Tak Cruise Terminal during weekends and public holidays.
Dangerous goods
In the old days there also was a ferry for cars to go across, but it was closed when the East Harbour Tunnel opened. Today, the Kwun Tong pier is still used for the transport of dangerous goods to the other side.
