Looking for a French class?
French Institute Yangon is one of the branches which belongs to the French cultural network, made up of 96 French Cultural Institutes around the world. It is in a compound that houses the Cultural and Cooperation Department of the French Embassy in Myanmar. It has been offering both French and Burmese language classes for adults, children, and teenagers starting from the beginner levels to the expert levels. There is also a library where you can find many French books, magazines, DVDs, and CDs.
Movie Nights!
There are weekly activities in IFB such as meditation every Saturday, capoeira every Tuesday and the one that got the public’s heart “Movie nights” every month. Many outsiders go and watch movies on those nights.
I got new friends, new experiences and a new language from here of course. I like the atmosphere and community of this place.
High profile and low key
The institute’s big garden, cafeteria space and exhibition room make it a popular venue for high profile cultural activities such as Vagina Monologue and Pride Yangon. But people are also welcome for more low key events or join one of the many clubs to play games, drama, read poetry or dance.
