iSee Old Wanchai Post Office

Hong Kong oldest surviving post office

Oldest surviving post office

Built in 1913, this lovely L-shaped building originally was a police station, then served the neighbourhood as a post office for 77 years. It’s later turned into an environmental resource centre, keeping many architectural features intact. It’s still one of Hong Kong’s oldest surviving post offices.

Reuse & recycle

A great example of recycling a historic building; the mailboxes, historic pitched roof, tiles, and façade are all original. The current tenant - an environmental resource centre - organises a variety of workshops and educational field trips. The old post box no longer holds postcards but recycling pamphlets.
