Get lost in Kotagede’s maze of meandering alleys and be catapulted back in time. This now tranquil neighbourhood was once Java’s royal capital, the seat of power of the mighty Mataram kingdom under the supreme leadership of king Senopati. Kotagede’s palaces, traditional silversmith workshops and mosaic-tiled joglo houses tell the stories of a royal high life lived by kings, aristocrats and merchants. Telusuri gang-gang kecil berliku khas Kotagede yang membawa Anda menembus ruang dan waktu. Perkampungan tenang ini dulunya bekas ibukota kerajaan Jawa, pusat pemerintahan Mataram di bawah kuasa Panembahan Senopati. Istana-istana di Kotagede, bengkel pengrajin perak tradisional, dan rumah-rumah joglo berubin mozaik menuturkan kisah kehidupan kaum atas para raja, bangsawan dan saudagar.
