Galle Behind the Facades of Galle Fort

Every home in the Fort tells a story that echoes a distant past; together, they create an architectural rhythm of exceptional beauty. This walk is for those who want to explore deeper and wonder what's beyond Galle Fort's elegant facades: it decodes the architectonic beauty of the heritage town and dives into its many different architectural and historical layers. Students of Colombo’s Moratuwa University selected 12 archetypical properties and spent some time to talk, observe, analyse and draw the different architectural influences and intricate details. They produced some beautiful hand drawn sketches of the historic dwellings; plans, sections, elevations and perspectives, in pencil and in ink.
